LocArk v1.1.0 introduced optional master-password encryption, new import paths, and improvements to writing, mind maps, startup performance, and stability.

Historical release note: This article documents LocArk v1.1.0 as released in January 2026. See the v1.1.0 changelog for the concise release record, or use the latest changelog and download page for current release information.

What’s New in v1.1.0

1. Master Password & New Encryption Engine

Version 1.1.0 added an optional Master Password flow powered by the V2 local encryption engine.

  • Master-password protection – The master password protected the key used to decrypt managed workspace content.
  • Managed content encryption – Notes, password entries, mind maps, kanbans, and their attachments were encrypted in the migrated workspace. Folder structure and limited file metadata remained visible, so this was not full-disk encryption.
  • Safer migration – LocArk copied managed content into a new, empty directory and left the original workspace untouched for verification.

2. Data Import Made Easy

Version 1.1.0 added guided import paths for notes and password entries:

SourceFormat
1PasswordCSV export
BitwardenCSV export
Other password managersCompatible CSV
Markdown-compatible appsMarkdown files or folders

In v1.1.0, go to Settings → Data Management → Import Data and follow the import dialog.

Password export safety: Password-manager CSV exports are plaintext and may omit some fields or item types. Export only on a trusted device to a local location that is not unintentionally synced or backed up, verify the imported entries, and then delete the CSV. Keep the source vault until the migration has been verified.

3. Writing & Thinking Enhancements

  • Math formula rendering – The Markdown editor now supports LaTeX math formulas.
  • Mindmap performance boost – Faster node operations and improved responsiveness.

4. Performance & Stability

Version 1.1.0 also optimized application startup and addressed known stability issues.

Get the Current Version

LocArk v1.1.0 is a historical release. To install the current version:

  • Existing users: Open the official store where you installed LocArk and install the available update.
  • New users: Use the download page to open the current official store listing for your platform.

Current releases are distributed through store channels rather than an in-app updater.

How Master-Password Encryption Worked in v1.1.0

The following steps describe the v1.1.0 migration flow, not the current interface:

  1. Open Settings and locate the Encryption section.
  2. Enable encryption and set a Master Password.
  3. Select a new, empty storage directory when prompted.
  4. Let LocArk copy the managed content into the V2 encrypted workspace.
  5. Verify the migrated workspace before deciding how to retain or remove the original directory.

Important: LocArk cannot reset or recover your Master Password. Store it safely before relying on the migrated workspace. Current releases may use a different setup flow, so follow the in-app prompts.
